 JEWELRY INFORMATION

RTOERINGS.COM does not claim to be experts in the field of jewelry, its contents or standards.  However, it is our intent to give some information regarding jewelry learned from experience with customers and manufacturers.

14K GOLD:
14k gold is the standard for fine jewelry in the United States.  It is made to last many lifetimes.  The karat system is used to state the amount of pure gold found in each jewelry item.  24k gold is put 100% gold.  Pure gold is very soft.  Therefore, 14k gold contains 14parts gold and 10 parts of another metal.  This process makes the 14k gold jewelry piece stronger and more durable for foot jewelry such as R Toe Rings toe rings.

14K GOLD FILLED:
14k gold filled is regulated federally.  It is 5% gold bonded to a base metal, usually brass or copper.  It is the next best thing to sold 14k gold.  Therefore, it is more economical than 14k gold.  The 14k gold covers the brass making your toe ring or other fine jewelry tarnish resistant.  There is NO nickel in it, therefore it is considered hypoallergenic.  It will not tarnish or discolor your skin.  The finish is strong; it will last one to five years even under heavy wear.  Gold filled toe rings is an economical way to ensure the look of gold at a fraction of the price.

14K GOLD PLATE:
14k gold place is fused on top of a base metal.  Gold plate manytimes only last days or weeks before the finish rubs off.  R TOE RINGS does not sell any of this costume jewelry.

STERLING SILVER:
Sterling Silver is a combination of 92.5 pure silver and 7.5% copper.  The copper is used as a hardener as pure silver is too soft for jewelry designs.  Copper gives "Sterling" its added stiffness and wearing qualities.  Sterling silver is the standard for fine jewelry and is the whitest of all metals.  It is considered hypoallergenic.  It does require polishing to keep the shiny luster to the finish of the metal.  Chemicals in spas, swimmining pools, hot tubs can turn silver black.  Likewise, silver may discolor the skin on some people with high acidic levels.  This does not take away from 92.5 sterling silver.  All sterling silver can be cleaned and restored to it natural luster.
